Credentials and Travel

I began teaching at East Jordan High School after graduating from NMU in Dec. 1996. Since then, I have completed my Master's degree in Humanities from CMU. I am certified to teach both English and History.

I am very interested in learning about other cultures. I have hosted exchange students from Germany and Hungary, and have also traveled to Germany, Hungary, Austria and South Korea over the last few summers.

Two years ago, I began teaching journalism at EJHS. To prepare for this new assignment, I complete a summer internship with the Petoskey News-Review, and continue to write for them as a free-lance journalist. You may also see my work in the Charlevoix Courier.

I have coached the Quiz Bowl team in East Jordan for over ten years. It is great fun, and I love having the opportunity to hang out with brainy kids. Quiz Bowl meets after school on Mondays. Students can participate for the entire year, or as their schedule permits. We usually compete once a month in tournaments held at NCMC on Fridays during the school day.
